New ‘Life’ in the Sanctuary
A long(er) story made short…
Josh Cullen serves in the army. In January he was stationed at Ft. Lewis where he will be based for four years. Josh is also a pianist, studied at Juilliard, owns a Steinway grand piano that has been at his parent’s home in the Midwest. He wanted to have his piano closer to him. Josh is good friends with Reis McCullough, who played clarinet at our Christmas Eve service. Reis knew of Josh’s desire to move his piano out here and told him, “Hey, I know this newly remodeled church with great acoustics.” Josh worshiped with us in February, felt comfortable with the congregation, liked the worship, really liked the building and asked if we would become owners of his piano for four years. (!)
In March the Board worked out the details to take ownership of the piano for four years. We agreed to pay the insurance and half of the moving cost. These expenses will come out of designated funds from the sale of our pianos and organ pipes. We’re now in the process of getting the word out that our space is available for recitals. The income from recitals will go back into the designated funds to save for a new instrument in the future.
What a amazing gift to have in our possession at this time!
The upright piano currently in the sanctuary, lovingly donated by the Lusk family, will be moved to the Education wing to be used there.
Nursery Attendants & Custodial Duties
If we have families attending with infants or toddlers we would like to
have nursery available for them during worship. Volunteers are needed to be available at 10:45 on Sunday mornings. Sign up sheet on the bulletin board. We will also be needing help with our custodial duties. Volunteer for a few weeks or a month at a time. If interested, take one of the lists to see what needs to be done weekly.
Rummage Sale!
The annual Outreach Rummage Sale is scheduled for May 16-17 with set up on the 15th. Please save all your great stuff to donate to the sale. The rummage sale is a lot of fun...maybe you’d like to help with set up or on the days of the sale? Volunteers will be needed to price, organize, help customers, take money ect.. Talk to Sue Glaspie or Malinda Lewis to find out more.
