Pastoral Search Complete with Calling of Rev. Mary Olney-Loyd
Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 11:50AM In a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, January 17, 2010 the congregation voted to call Reverend Mary Olney-Loyd as the next called Pastor of Lake City Christian Church.
Reverend Olney-Loyd and her husband Gary Loyd visited and shared in worship and fellowship with the congregation on Sunday, January 10th and were welcomed warmly by our congregation. Reverend Olney-Loyd’s ministry will begin with us on February 15th and her first Sunday will be February 21st.
Reverend Olney-Loyd has served both Disciples and United Church of Christ congregations and has dual standing in both denominations. She entered pastoral ministry through music ministry. She is familiar with incorporating music, art and drama in worship. She has served as an interim and settled pastor in Disciples Congregations as well as UCC churches, and approaches worship as every Sunday being a “Mini Easter”.
In her most recent ministry at First Christian Church in Olympia, they have facilitated a Tent City and a homeless women’s shelter in the church basement.
Rev. Olney-Loyd is very excited about being in ministry with us at Lake City Christian Church. And so with the goals and hopes and dreams of the congregation in mind, that this Search and Call Process has defined, we welcome Mary and her husband Gary to ministry with us at Lake City Christian Church.
Thank you to the Pastoral Search and Call committee, Verginia Aylesworth, Shari Link, Gary McKee, Liz Ragland, Reka Shore, Joel Smith and John Worcester, who have completed their task of seeking Pastoral Leadership for our congregation.
