Rev. Dr. Sacia Vik
Having received her Bachelor of Music degree in 2009 from Belhaven University, Claire recently completed studies for the Graduate Diploma in Music from the University of Leeds in England.
Originally from Texarkana, Arkansas, Claire’s love of choral singing began with her own involvement in several children’s choirs in her hometown. Since then she has sung with many church and university choirs in both America and England and was most recently Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church in Yazoo City, MS.
Kristine is well-known in the Puget Sound region for her artistic and sensitive work with singers as well as instrumentalists ranging from from tuba to piccolo. Equally at home with jazz, pop, and classical, she can adjust her style from Sondheim to Gershwin to Strauss. Her clients include winners in local and national competitions, including the Seattle Young Artist Music Festival, Metropolitan Opera semifinals, and concerto contests at the University of Washington and surrounding counties. These winners have gone on to perform with Philharmonia Northwest, Seattle Youth Symphony, and Seattle Symphony, and some have also achieved appointments on music school faculties and in chamber groups .
She was music director for the Seattle Musical Theater, formerly known as Civic Light Opera, during their production of High Society. In addition to holding two church-pianist positions in Seattle in addition to Lake City Christian, she is the accompanist for the Bellevue Chamber Chorus, and was featured on harpsichord when they joined the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra for presentations of Messiah in past years. She was the pianist for "NOISE", Northwest Opera In Schools, Etc., for 7 years. In the winter, she is the pianist for public school students who enter the Washington State Solo and Ensemble Contest at the regional level. Many of her clients have gone on to win at the state level. As a staff accompanist at the University of Washington, she will be coaching and accompanying several students this year as they get ready for graduate recitals and auditions.
She helps prepare flute students for the annual Horsfall Flute Contest in Seattle, sponsored by the Seattle Flute Society. She also performs with the winners of this contest in a special recital. In 2010, she toured Western Washington schools with a flutist after he won the prestigious Ladies Musical Club Recitalist Competition.
In past years she as performed to high acclaim with Brian Fairbanks in flute and piano recitals at St. Mark's Cathedral in Seattle, where Brian is a musician-in-residence.
Each year, Kristine is featured in performances with the Bellevue Chamber Chorus.
